FAQs

Products should be stored with the lids tightly sealed in a cool, dark, dry place. That means no light-flooded windows, no counters in steamy bathrooms, and no leaving them in your car. As much as we would love for you to show off our products in all of these places, we value your happiness and the longevity of the product over what looks best next to your sink. If you plan on not using one of your products for a while, pop it in the fridge to extend its shelf life.
-
If you’re storing your products properly (see above answer) and dipping into them with clean hands, then the average shelf life is 12 months. If you want to extend the shelf life of whatever you’ve purchased, keep that baby in the fridge until you are ready to add it back into your routine.

We try to source all of our herbs, oils, and ingredients from companies that support and practice organic, sustainable, and nonGMO agriculture; as well as Fair For Life, Zero Waste, Carbon Fund, Earth Share, Eco-Verified Forest Grown, and Salmon Safe businesses. We like to support companies who care just as much about sustainability and sustainable packaging as we do.
-
Our products are safe for most ages and constitutions, but just like most things, be sure to check the label and precautions of each item to be sure. Some products, including our Arnica Liniment and Weary Muscles Rub are contraindicated to those who are pregnant and breastfeed and should therefore be avoided by those groups. Our products are made for external use only and should be used as such. We always recommend that you consult with a qualified healthcare practitioner before using any herbal products, especially if you are pregnant or nursing, or have any other serious health concerns.

Orders usually ship 3 to 5 days after purchasing. Every order is sent out via Priority Mail with a tracking number so both parties know when the package has been delivered. If you pre-ordered a product, or are on a waitlist, keep an eye out for a confirmation email verifying when the product will be in stock or when it will ship out.
-
If you are unhappy with one of your purchases, we would be more than happy to offer you a full refund. Simply get in touch via our “Contact” page or email us at hello@catandclawapothecary.com. We are an extremely small business but your happiness means more to us than our bottom line. All we ask is that you get ahold of us within 14 days listing the reason for your return, and ship the product back with 3 weeks of the delivery date. Since we are so small, we are unable to pay for the cost of the return shipping, but we would love to know how to make your C+C experience better in the future.
-
If your product arrives damaged we will happily exchange it at no cost to you. We just ask that you send us a picture of the damaged package and product within one week so we can make it right with the proper shipping authorities. Our products are sensitive and can sometimes melt during the shipping process (see question below). We take great pains to avoid this, but sometimes the California heat is just too strong.
-
The simple answer is heat and temperature. A lot of our products are heat sensitive and can easily separate and melt during the shipping process. We do our best to ship things out quickly and be mindful of the weather. During the warmer months, we prefer to ship things out on Mondays and Tuesdays, so your package has the greatest chance of reaching you whole and intact without sitting in a truck or warehouse over the weekend. If you would like your product shipped out with a cold pack, just leave us a note during checkout and a $2 fee will be added to your shipping costs. With all that being said, sometimes it’s just too damn hot to ship out such vulnerable and important packages.
-
Separation is natural for a lot of products, especially if they have been exposed to extreme heat or cold. If you have a product that contains beeswax or shea butter like our Everything Wax, Lip Balms, or Weary Muscles Rub, the best way to reincorporate all the ingredients back into one smooth emulsion is to gently heat it in the oven. We like to preheat our oven to 150 degrees Fahrenheit and place the balm in question on an oven safe skillet or sheet pan, with the lid off, and heat for 10 minutes, or until the product has become completely liquid. Carefully remove the skillet or sheet pan from the oven and allow to cool to room temperature before handling your freshly-combined product.

First, we are excited that you are interested in selling Cat + Claw at your retail store! (Hooray, us!) Second, you should know that we are a small company and we choose our stockists very carefully. We look for small businesses with values and ethics similar to our own. That being said, we would love to hear from you and are flattered you think we would be a good fit for your shop! Please use our “Contact” page to send us an email with detailed information about your business, as well as your resale number, and we can go from there.

We love to do collaborations and already have a few in the works this year! As we've said, we like to work with other businesses whose values align with our own— those who care about sustainability, form, function, and inclusivity. If you are someone who also appreciates these things, we would love to work with you!
-
We would love to do one! Pop-ups are great fun and we love getting to meet people in real life. Our schedule doesn’t always allow for the most flexibility, but we’ve never had to turn one down. Just send us and email at hello@catandclawapothecary.com and hopefully we can get something on the books!
